  • My photographic work focuses on combating negative stereotypes of black women by creating a new conversation that allows voices to be heard through an empowering perspective on black women. This exchange is multi-generational, focusing on women of all ages and sizes. My work goes against negative racial stereotypes placed upon black women by depicting them in a position of power and capturing the essence of black excellence. I believe that in capturing black excellence, as it has always existed, my work promotes a norm and not a dream.

  • My thesis is about the women in my family and the negative sigma surrounding black women in America. My work combats those negative stereotypes by creating a new conversation through an empowering perspective on black women.
