Melissa Fleming (MFA Photography 2006) will be giving a double feature presentation at the New York Photo Salon on Thursday, October 15th at 6:30PM.

The first part of the talk is called “Inspired by Nature” and covers the evolution of her artworks, including examples from two of her newest projects — American Glaciers and Wildfires.

The second part will be a special lecture that she developed called “The Art and Science of Climate Change.” Fleming describes the purpose of this lecture:

Blending my two worlds, this slide presentation explores how art can help broaden the public conversation and create new pathways to understanding climate change.  It will introduce the basic science of climate change and explore how artists from around the globe are reacting to its diverse impacts and possible solutions.

The New York Photo Salon is taking place at the School of Visual Arts (SVA), at 136 West 21st Street, Room 418-F, (between 6th and 7th Aves), New York, NY.
