Skowhegan Applications Now Open!

The Skowhegan School of Painting & Sculpture is now accepting applications for their summer program.

Skowhegan seeks to bring together a gifted and diverse group of individuals who have demonstrated a commitment to artmaking and inquiry. An academic background in art is not required. Financial status is not a consideration in the admissions process, and financial need should not deter artists from applying for admission. You must be at least 21 years of age at the start of the program and have a working knowledge of English. Application fees are non-refundable.

In accepting admission to Skowhegan, artists agree to stay the full nine-week term of the session. Exceptions are made in cases of emergency only. Absences from the program to fulfill other professional commitments will not be authorized. For this reason, artists who leave for such purposes will forfeit their admission to and participation in the program.

The application deadline is January 10, 2018 at 11:59PM EST (23:59). Applications will not be accepted after January 10 for any reason. The 2018 application fee amount is determined by the date that you choose to submit your application.

The fee is $20 if you apply between November 15 and November 22, 2017.

The fee is $50 if you apply between November 23 and December 6, 2017.

The fee is $65 if you apply between December 7, 2017 and January 7, 2018.

The application fee is $80 if you apply between January 8 and January 10, 2018.

All fee increases will occur at 11:59PM (EST) on the last day of each payment bracket. All dates and times are EST.

Admission to Skowhegan, the awarding of general financial assistance, and the pursuit of all Skowhegan activities are implemented without preference to racial or ethnic origins, gender, sexual orientation, religious affiliation, disability, or age. The Skowhegan School of Painting & Sculpture is a not-for-profit organization incorporated under the laws of the State of Maine.

The 2018 Summer Session will run from Jun 9—August 11, 2018.
