Freya Powell

Freya Powell has a research-based practice that investigates traces of history and grievability. She creates ensemble performances, sound installations, and videos that are anchored by the voice and are poetic in nature. Powell holds an MFA from Hunter College and a BA from Bard College. Her work has been exhibited at Videotage, Hong Kong, MoMA PS1, NY, Art in General, NY, Arts Santa Monica, Spain, EFA Project Space, NY, Queens Museum, NY; among others. Recently, Powell received grants from the Queens Council on the Arts and NYSCA. Powell is an Assistant Professor of Contemporary Art Practice at Parsons, The New School, NY.
