Before we break for the holidays, a reminder about the Vera List New School Art Collection Writing Award. The award presents a unique opportunity to engage with the university’s art collection and honors students’ creative responses to the collection. Submission deadline is February 18, 2013 – your students could use the winter break writing their submissions!

Essential Points:

• A unique writing competition open to all New School students in all divisions and all programs.
• First place award of $400 and a second place award of $200.
• In addition to prose and poetic responses, the judges will consider submissions that re-visit the notion of “the essay” through non-text based media such as film, photography, visuals, music and sound, architecture or the Web.
• Winning entries featured in a celebratory and public reading, edited by a professional editor, and published in next year’s edition of the award newspaper as well as online at veralistcenter.org.
• Entries must be received by Monday, February 18, 2013.
