This seminar provides a rigorous discussion forum where students concerns are met by the experiences of visiting speakers who will offer critical perspectives on different aspects of the sciences. Science has become a vast area of research and study for many students in the creative field. Drawing from the social, natural and applied sciences all the way to the philosophy of science, artists, writers, film makers and media producers are not only interested in but borrow methodologies, share research and acquire modes of visualization from these fields.

Grouped around thematic clusters such as Geophysics, the Social Body, New Eugenics, System Theory, Economics, the Physics of Time, members of The New Schools acclaimed faculty will alternate with external scholars, experts and artists to present lectures on the intersections of art and science. The lectures that are open to the public will be followed by an intimate meeting between the seminars students, the courses faculty and the invited speakers. Students will write response papers in dialogue with the presented ideas. Each cluster of lectures will alternate with in depth discussions and readings with students and the courses faculty.
