Research Assistant Needed for Social Media Development
Research Assistant Needed:
Social Media Development for the exhibition “The Assignment Book”
by artist Luis Camnitzer (Aronson Galleries, Sept. 15, 2011)
As part of “MobilityShifts: An International Future of Learning Summit” (http://mobilityshifts.org/), which will be held at The New School from October 10-16, 2011, there will be an exhbition curated by Trebor Scholz and Christiane Paul entitled “The Assignment Book,” by the German-born Uruguayan artist Luis Camnitzer. The exhibition project consists of several assignments that invite the public to engage in active philosophical speculations: rather than being led to contemplation, the public is asked to start an elaboration of ideas and participate with their conclusions. Each piece in the exhibition will raise an open, not always realistic question to be further inquired by the viewer.
In order to involve the public and their responses to/as the art, we are looking for a Research Assistant to create the technical aspects of this show. The deadline for delivering the social media backend for the show will be September 1st, and the RA will be paid $900 for creating and moderating the following:
+ a blog (with sections for individual assignments)
+ twitterfeed
+ QR code ‘attached’ to individual works, which directs to the blog sections
+ interview/podcast with the artist for the MobilityShifts website (www.mobilityshifts.org)
+ other creative forms of filtering with which you have experience
We are also looking to assemble a group of students who could work on responses to the assignments over the summer, so that the blog could be seeded. Contributions could take any form – written, video, images, etc. The results and suggestions will be integrated in the physical display of the exhibition. The purpose is to expand art from its specialized production for consumers to assume the responsibility as a democratic form of acquisition and expansion of knowledge.
Do your interests lie in art, technology, the future of digital learning, innovation and social sciences you are the perfect candidate and you are social media-savvy, this is the assistantship for you!
If you are interested please contact Trebor Scholz (scholzt@newschool.edu) and Christiane Paul (paulc@newschool.edu) for further information.
