Parsons Fine Arts students in Miggy Buck’s “Recycle Rethink” class were challenged to preserve the history of the iconic Mannes stained glass windows from Mannes’ previous locations, and to modernize them for Mannes new location in Arnold Hall. Come see the “Unveiling of the Windows” this Thursday at 5 PM!
“Unveiling of the Windows”
Thurs. Nov. 19th, 5 PM
7th and 4th floors. of Arnold Hall
55 West 13th Street, NY, NY
Assistant to the Dean of Mannes, Matt Sullivan, writes:
The stained glass windows that have become so iconic for Mannes were commissioned and installed at 157 East 74th Street in 1919. When Mannes moved to 150 West 85th Street in 1985, the windows were disassembled from the east 74th Street building and re-installed in the new Mannes Building. We are delighted that thanks to our dear friends, the students and faculty of Parsons, those windows have taken on a new life and continue to be central to the identity of Mannes School of Music.
The pieces will be installed for Mannes’s official ribbon cutting on Weds. the 18th.
