Capricious seeks interns

Be a part of the Capricious team, working first-hand with the production of exhibitions as well as our fall/winter schedule of publications. Interns will assist in the day-today upkeep of the gallery, as well as general office organization.

Applicants must have a background in art and/or photography and willingness to do entry-level intern work, while being provided with unique exposure to the inner-workings of a magazine and gallery. Ideal candidates are trustworthy recent grads with positive energy, keen organizational skills and attention to detail. Proficiency with Mac applications and Adobe Creative Suite (particularly InDesign & Photoshop) is desirable.

Internships are unpaid, however lunch is provided and in some situations school credit may be arranged. Interns should be able to commit 2 days per week, approximately11am-5pm. Flexible weekend schedules are a must and 3-month commitment is preferred.

Photo Studio Assistant Needed:
$10/hour
4-8 hours (one day)/week

Undergrad photography student needed to assist two artists in Brooklyn. Must be able to work at artists’ home in Bushwick and studio in Long Island City. We are a photographer and a painter/mixed media artist, husband and wife. Primary duties will be assisting photographer, but also will assist painter, in duties below:

Responsibilities:
-Cut, sleeve, organize negatives
-Imacon scan film for lo- and hi-res
-Make inkjet work prints
-Basic color management for work prints
-Possibly work on files for exhibition prints
-Run errands: pick up/drop off film; scan at labs, etc.
-Conduct image research at New York Public Library Picture Collection, collecting source material images for collage and painting

Qualification:

-Excellent photo skills including Photoshop, Camera RAW, color management, digital and darkroom printing experience
-Highly organized and attentive to detail
-Skilled in handling delicate, fragile materials
-Warm personality and sense of humor
-Flexible

LINTROLLER ROLLING CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS:

Lintroller is a platform of exchange, whether it is ideas, or works that focuses on the photographic medium.

Lintroller is a space for contemporary photography that compiles interviews, portfolios, videos and curated blog posts. The website is emphasized on emerging photographers and current, surfacing ideas in the practice of photography.

To submit your work for consideration, please email 10-15 images sized 1000px on the longest side at 72dpi together with a link to your website. The images do not have to be from a specific series, however, please note that they should cohesively display your work in the best possible light.

While not mandatory, we do appreciate a short statement about your work and a biography.

While we do enjoy a variety of different stuff, please take a moment to remember that Lintroller is a photography focused platform – the work you are submitting should incorporate photographic elements.

DIGITAL RETOUCHING INTERN (VELEM NY)

Seeking Retouching Interns

We are looking for retouching interns with a fundamental knowledge of Photoshop CS, and who want to learn and gain experience in a commercial photo retouching studio. You will get the opportunity to work and learn from experienced professional retouchers, as well as be assigned duties to enhance your skill set for the real world.

We are looking for talented, and eager candidates who want to learn about skin/hair/beauty/fashion retouching. Please have a background in photography, as well as be familiar with masking, calibrating monitors, and printing. We will require regular hours, and expect the utmost dedication and seriousness of our candidates for our internship program. You will get to learn from the best and develop technical skills from hands on experience in a professional setting.

Reply with a resume and sample work in PDF format. The subject line should read “RETOUCHING INTERNSHIP”. Please don’t respond if you can not meet our criteria. This is a part-time committed internship, about 3 days a week.
