The CASE presents: EXPERIMENTS
Featuring works by Christina Baez, Jeanie Choi, Natalie Eichengreen, Jessica Iannuzzi, Hannah Mooy, Anna Patin, Gwynn Powell, Maria Quattrociocchi, Jessica Sokolowski, Jessica Zeidler.
The hand-applied emulsions used in the Experiments class have been used since the beginning of photography. However, the images you are viewing in THE CASE, span the centuries of photography; taking advantage of the 1900’s to today.
Students first transformed their images (from film or digital capture) into large negatives that they could use for the contact print processes we selected. Negatives were made in the computer lab using transparencies as well as regular, plain paper. The negatives were then brought back into the darkroom, emulsion was applied on to paper, canvas, wood or cloth, and exposed under a UV light source.
Each student decided which process worked best with their photographs so that they can end the semester with a final project that utilizes the process to enhance their images, not overwhelm them.
