Parsons Fine Arts is pleased to announce the Spring 2015 Graduate Open Studios to be held on Thursday, March 19, 6–9pm. Our dynamic group of 43 graduate students will open their creative spaces to the public and be available to answer questions and discuss their work. Open Studios provides a rare opportunity for visitors to view works in progress and meet the artists in an informal setting. Visitors will gain insight into the diverse practices within our studio art program that embraces interdisciplinary experimentation, intellectual rigor and innovation.

The MFA at Parsons Fine Arts is a two-year, cross-disciplinary program committed to expanding the formal, intellectual and conceptual dimensions of emerging artists’ work. The program curriculum centers around one-on-one studio visits, group critiques, critical theory seminars, personalized classes, writing and research for studio practice, as well as professional practices seminars. The program additionally offers medium and concept specific advanced practice electives with a wide variety of topics including painting, performance, installation, 3D, video, the archive and eco-literacy. The Transdisciplinary Seminar reaches into the larger New School community and focuses on topics such as Art & Science, Art & Feminism and Afro-futurism. Our proudly diverse learning community is aimed to support students in studio-based research and scholarship to extend the boundaries of contemporary cultural expression and to develop a global understanding of the arts.

Parsons Fine Arts is situated within the School of Art Media and Technology at Parsons The New School for Design. Students have the opportunity to study and collaborate with a wide range of art and design fields, as well as all areas of study across the internationally renowned New School for Social Research.

Parsons Fine Arts is home to an international and dynamic faculty whose work has been included in exhibitions and institutions such as the Whitney Biennial, Documenta, the Sydney Biennale and the Museum of Modern Art.
