NY Comics & Picture-story Symposium / The Eternal Question: What’s Funny About This?! The Eternal Answer from Arnold Roth.

Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at 7pm at The New School, 66 West 12th Street, room A510 (Klein Conference Room), New York City. 

Arnold Roth will present a profusely illustrated talk with a selection of his works through the decades, from the philosophical to the filthy. Free and open to the public.

Arnold Roth is an award-winning cartoonist based in New York City. His cartoons have appeared in numerous publications including The New Yorker, TIME, Sports Illustrated, Playboy, Punch, the New York Times, and many, many more. Since 2011 Arnold Roth posts on his weekly blog http://www.humblug.com.

An Evening with AMT Visiting Faculty: Henrik Drescher

Wednesday, May 13 – Shelia Johnson Design Center – 2 W. 13th Street / 66 Fifth Ave

Enjoy wine and snacks during a signing of a limited edition of prints created by Henrik Drescher and Master Printer and Faculty member Paul Marcus.

6 pm–7:30 pm / Kellen Auditorium, 2 W. 13th Street / 66 Fifth Ave, 1st floor

Henrik Drescher, guest lecturer in the Parsons Illustration department, will deliver a talk about the 12 years he spent living and working in Chinas’s western province of Yunnan.

7:30-9:00 p.m.  / 2 W. 13th Street, 11th Floor Lobby

A reception and showcase of selected works of Henrik Drescher and student books created in his workshop will take place.

MFA Fine Arts Symposium

Wednesday, May 13th and 14th at 7 to 10 pm / Located at 65 W 11th St., Room B500 in Wollman Hall

The Fine Arts graduating students will present excerpts of their thesis papers combined with visuals of their work to the audience. Their papers will be responded to by invited guest critics.

The evening will give an exciting overview of the intellectual landscapes and discursive contexts of the graduate students thesis projects on view at The Kitchen, 512 West 19th Street, New York.

Designing Multiplicity, MFA DT Thesis Exhibition

Opening Reception: Monday May 18th, 6 – 8 pm, D1200, 6 E. 16th St

On view 10am-6pm through May 22. 

Drinks and light refreshments will be provided. Following the reception, guests are invited to stay on for an evening of screenings and live performances from 8 to 10 pm.

Designing Multiplicity presents a selection of dynamic media art and design projects that explore the relationship between humans and technology.The projects showcased in this exhibition encompass a wide range of digital media, from mobile applications and web-based work to video games, electronic toys, and digital art. Experience a diversity of aesthetic visions that span from practical to experimental, serious to whimsical, and everyday to extreme. This exhibition is presented by the graduating class ofParsons’ Design and Technology, MFA.

Designing Multiplicity, MFA DT Thesis Performances and Screenings

 Monday May 18th, 8 – 10 pm, The Auditorium at 66 West 12th Street, Alvin Johnson/J.M. Kaplan Hall

This event showcases video, animation, and live performances produced by graduating students in Parsons Design and Technology MFA program. The show will commence directly following the opening reception of the thesis exhibition. Guests are invited to attend the opening and stay for the screening and performances.

These events are part of Parsons Festival 2015.
