Paid Positions at The Fund for the Public Interest, NYC Office

Written by:

The Fund for the Public Interest is a national non-profit organization that works to build support for progressive organizations across the country. We run campaigns for groups including the Human Rights Campaign, USPIRG, Environment America and Fair Share. This fall, we will be in dozens of cities, working and lobbying to help win environmental and social justice campaigns.

And, we get results. Last summer our staff helped ban off-shore drilling to protect our coasts, repeal Don’t Ask Don’t Tell, and increase food safety standards to make school lunches safer- all while building valuable leadership skills.

Right now in our Manhattan Office, we’re working with Environment New York to ban fracking, a dangerous form of natural gas drilling that could threaten the drinking water of millions of New Yorkers, pollute our air and destroy acres of forest. Through our on-the-ground grassroots organizing, we’re building up the public support we need to get Governor Cuomo to keep fracking out of New York. But we’ll need your hard work to make it happen.

Currently, we have paid positions open on our campaign staff in each of our locations, including our Manhattan office. We’re looking for people who are hard working and have excellent communication skills.

As a member of our staff, you will fundraise, build membership for our partner groups, and educate and activate citizens on pressing issues. You will also have the opportunity to organize press conferences and build coalitions with other non-profit organizations. While on staff, you gain knowledge of pressing concerns our country is facing, learn how to effectively generate public support, and obtain a firm understanding of the political process. We also have a number of career positions available for college graduates.

We will be holding information sessions and interviews our office between now and August 23rd. To apply, please visit or call (212) 575-8571 and ask for Claire.
