Graphic Design Fall Internship Description

Minds Matter NYC is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to transform the lives of accomplished high school students from low-income families by broadening their dreams and preparing them for college success. For 25 years, every Minds Matter students has been admitted to a four-year college.

Minds Matter seeks an enthusiastic, creative and driven marketing & graphic design student intern to join the team for a 3-month fall internship. This internship is a unique and dynamic opportunity to work with a small team making a large impact in the nonprofit sector. The intern will report to the Development Manager and Executive Director as well as work with other members of the Minds Matter team.

Hours: 15 hours per week (remote work with a once per week in-person meeting)

Pay: $12/hour for 12 weeks beginning in September

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Design and develop high-quality, visually attractive, clear engaging graphic communications for an array of documents and publications suitable for print and digital channels
• Ability to design web ads, infographics, signs, brochures, flyers and other promotional materials
• Create & design e-newsletter, collaborating on new website pages and email marketing campaigns
• Ability to closely adhere to organization look, feel, tone and design/font standards
• Maintain and grow social media presence (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram)

Qualifications:

• Must be a graphic design student with one year of graphic design experience
• Proficient in Adobe InDesign, Illustrator & Photoshop (knowledge of WordPress is a plus)
• Access to a computer and graphic design software is required
• Strong proofreading skills and ability to edit copy
• Must have excellent time management skills
• Ability to keep projects on track creatively and in accordance with production deadlines
• Proven success with managing multiple projects simultaneously
• Must have ability to work independently as well as in partnership with a team
• Must be able to define and work within hard deadlines
• Belief in the mission of Minds Matter NYC
