A temporal disjunction of document and archive. A slippage of symbol and syntax, of language and meaning. Return and Recall examines the ways in which our works explore memory, place, and home. Through sculpture, installation, video, and painting, the works of each artist reveal moments of humor, trauma, and precarity, as they examine the material and psychic constructs of place and memory, and the resulting inadequacy of representation, overlapping racial history, and the complexity of belonging and unbelonging.
