Erik Madigan Heck (MFA Photo ’09) has been named one of six finalists in a new annual contest presented by W Magazine and the International Center of Photography called, “The Shot”, which seeks to identify and support the next generation of stars in fashion photography. This feature will be announced in W’s November issue, marking its 40th anniversary. It will include a portfolio of the six emerging photographers, one of whom will ultimately be named a winner and receive the grand prize of the opportunity to shoot a feature for the magazine’s September 2013 issue.

“We looked for photographers with original ideas,” said Stefano Tonchi, the editor of W. “We selected the ones who are not like anyone else.” Six finalists including Erik Madigan Heck were selected by Tonchi and a panel of judges including some of the top industry art directors and photographers.
