DESCRIPTION:
Led by a team of data viz all-stars, we will check out examples of great visualizations, using the Data Viz Challenge judging criteria to frame our conversation. From there, we will dig into the WhatWePayFor.com data set and discuss ideas for telling compelling visual stories about our taxes.

Developers (or those interested in learning how to query an API) will take a closer look at Jono Brandel’s fully annotated sample visualization and George Micheal’s documentation of the WhatWePayFor.com data set. Designers, journalists, and artists will dig into the raw data, parse out juicy stories, and check out tools for creating visualizations. Leaders of the skillshare will be on hand to provide design and coding support. Come by yourself, or bring a team!

This skillshare is organized in support of the Data Viz Challenge, created by Eyebeam and Google, with data provided by WhatWePayFor.com.
