Judas Priest: Road To Valhalla, Parsons DT Mobile Game
Ethan Silverman, Parsons Design & Technology professor and rock star collaborator, currently develops trans media work with Bill Curbishley and his company Trinifold in London for various Rock and Roll projects including new work for Judas Priest and other bands.
Currently available for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch and now available in the App Store, Judas Priest: Road To Valhalla is Silverman’s most recent Mobile Game and collaboration.
The project gained roots with the Judas Priest Collab in 2013. While the students were tasked with developing trans media concepts for a Judas Priest album NOSTRADAMUS, Bobby Fata came up with an idea using STEMS from songs to play a visual game. All ideas were pitched to the band which ran the gamut from stage designs to interactive booths.
Along with Judas Priest’s managers Bill Curbishley and Jayne Andrews, Silverman and Trinifold took the idea to Sony Music who loved the idea of separated STEMS (the various musical pieces that create a song). This has never been done including the popular GUITAR HERO. Silverman adds, “Trinifold Management made a deal to do a game with the STEMS but using the band’s hits in a type of chase where the band is going to a gig and has to pass through various stages and levels to win.”
About Judas Priest:
There are few heavy metal bands that have managed to scale the heights that Judas Priest have during their 40 year career – originally formed during the early ’70s in Birmingham, England, Judas Priest is responsible for some of the genre’s most influential and landmark albums (1980’s ‘British Steel,’ 1982’s ‘Screaming for Vengeance,’ 1990’s ‘Painkiller,’etc.) and for decades have been one of the greatest live bands in the entire heavy metal genre including an iconic performance at Live Aid in 1985 – they also brought metal to the masses by their appearance on American Idol in 2011 – plus Judas Priest were one of the first metal bands to exclusively wear leather and studs – a look that began during this era and was eventually embraced by metal fans throughout the world!
And soon, the worlds of metal and gaming will collide head-on, with the groundbreaking new game, ‘Road to Valhalla‘!
