Please join us as Parsons Design students and musicians from Mannes present progress on a complete design response to the orchestral garment. As a result of our work last spring, and the presentation to the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, including Marin Alsop, in the fall, our students are now expanding and developing their design proposals to address many of the particular concerns of orchestra members. Students are continuing to pursue adaptive reuse of existing garments and the use of new and found materials with particular attention to the needs of performers. There will be 15 designs presented including one for the conductor, Marin Alsop. The Mannes students will play a short solo passage while wearing the demonstrated garments.
