This internship involves being a teaching assistant for  K – 5 art classes at an alternative public elementary school in Brooklyn. The school is located in Carroll Gardens and follows a progressive educational philosophy. Art is integrated into all areas of study and they have a very cool sustainability program for the kids as well. Interns assist in teaching, class prep and also help to install student art work for exhibits in halls of the school. Several Fine Arts students did this internship last spring and found it to be quite enjoyable. The art teacher at the school is a Parsons alum and has more than 15 years of experience so she is great person to observe and learn from.
