Internship Opportunities at Bronx Documentary Center

The Bronx Documentary Center (BDC), a non-profit organization, is currently looking for qualified candidates for the following internships: Arts Education and Multi-media Production.

Our mission is to share photography, film and new media within the Bronx and the cultural community at large. We engage communities by helping people to tell their own stories and create dialogue around the vital issues of our time. We are looking for interns that can work both independently and at the heart of the BDC team. For the right people, an internship offers a rich and rewarding opportunity to learn and contribute to the Bronx community.

The Multi-media Production Intern will use their expertise to edit multimedia projects, communication materials and document BDC events through photo and video. Tasks will also include printing limited edition works, installing exhibitions and assisting in the development of photography and video workshops. Applicants with photo and filmmaking backgrounds are encouraged.

Skills Required:
Excellent knowledge of photo and video editing platforms: Photoshop, Lightroom and Apple Final Cut Pro.
Experience with professional Epson photo printers & color calibration.
Ability to perform general technical troubleshooting.
Well organized and detail oriented.
Knowledge of Spanish a plus.

The Arts Education Intern will help organize, teach and evaluate an after-school program that focuses on “total literacy” for children aged 11-15. This program will integrate homework help, photography and computer skills. Tasks will also include working with neighborhood schools, community organizations and local arts organisations. Applicants currently in a relevant master’s degree program or a recent graduates from a master’s program are encouraged.

Skills Required:
Experience in arts education projects and working with young people
Familiarity with NYC education system and youth services
Basic knowledge of film and photography
Strong sense of organisation
Knowledge of Spanish a plus
