GE seeks Interaction Design Intern

General Electric is looking for one Interaction Design intern for home appliance and consumer products. This is an opening for a ONE-YEAR long internship at GE’s design studio in Louisville, Kentucky starting July/August 2012.

Job Responsibilities:
This is an excellent opportunity to apply interaction design principles to products that people use everyday. GE’s design group is tightly integrated with its manufacturing environment, providing valuable work experience and improving your skills and knowledge as an interaction/interface designer.

Design the layouts of a variety of home appliance controls such as ovens, refrigerators, dishwashers, washers and dryers.
Support and assist the Interaction Design Manager and Interaction Designers on tasks and assignments.

Qualifications:
· The ideal candidate must be a current undergrad/grad graphic, interface or interaction design student at an accredited school/university.
· Self-motivation, attention to detail, and strong desire to learn are integral assets.
· Skill sets must include outstanding visual graphic layout, information architecture, storyboarding, and computer knowledge.
· Experience with Adobe Illustrator is required.
· Familiarity with Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, and Acrobat are beneficial.
· Familiarity with charting applications such Visio or OmniGraffle but not required.
· You must be 18 years or older.
· You must be willing to take a drug test as part of the selection process.
· You must have authorization to work in the United States.

· Assistance with relocation expenses and housing stipend may be supplied.
