TOWANDA is a collaborative photography project from Vincent Cianni’s Documentary Strategies class in the Art Media and Technology Department at Parsons The New School of Design. The students of the Documentary Strategies class traveled to Towanda over a period of two months to gather material and data and document the living ecology of Towanda and its surroundings from multiple perspectives and points of view. The resulting archive offers an insight into the place and the people who reside there. The students then teamed up with Jeanne Verdoux’s Graphic Design students from AAS GD Program to create and produce the complete visual identity of the Towanda project — a website and a poster/catalog. Exhibitions were mounted in Towanda and at Parsons The New School for Design in December, 2013.
