Magnum Foundation will be doing a film screening night entitled “Notions of Identity and Place”. Featured amongst the screenings will be MFA Photography alumni (2017) Christian Padron’s The Veil. The screening is free and you can register for tickets here.
The Veil is a lush portrait of contemporary Harlem that evokes philosopher W.E.B. Dubois’s early twentieth century concept of “the veil,” a metaphor for the spectre of segregation in America.
Christian Padron is an American artist and filmmaker working in New York. Since completing his MFA in Photography & Related Media from the Parsons School of Design, he has worked on various projects in film and photography and is a recipient of the 2017 Magnum Foundation Fellowship.
