For over ninety years, Bank Street College has been a leader in education and a national advocate for children and families. The Division of Continuing Education works to extend Bank Street’s mission of cross-disciplinary efforts throughout New York and the country. The National Service Training Center at Bank Street College is funded by the Corporation for National and Community Service and is a partnership with Education Northwest (based in Portland, Oregon). The Center trains AmeriCorps VISTAs (Volunteers in Service to America), VISTA supervisors and VISTA leaders in both online and in-person training programs.

Summary:
The blended learning instructional designer will design and develop face-to-face and online learning resources for AmeriCorps VISTA members and their supervisors. Face-to-face training development would include working with subject matter experts to write scripts and develop handouts. The online learning resource development would include, but not be limited to: self-paced tutorials, instructor-led online courses, webinars and other web-based learning products. Responsibilities include writing, editing and developing content via storyboards and other formats, and working with subject matter experts and other instructional designers to provide guidance to project teams regarding instructional design.

Job Responsibilities:
• Serve as an instructional designer on one or more projects adapting source content to a variety of in-person and distance delivery media
• Work with other instructional designers to define the look and feel of the training experience.
• Develop content via storyboards, handouts and scripts.
• Advise project staff in the blended learning design process in a manner that is consistent with best practices in the field.
• Collaborate with team members via WebEx and other virtual tools, including webcams.
• Perform other related duties as assigned including: working with audio talent and graphic designers, and leading webinars.

Qualifications/ Requirements:
• Three to five years instructional design experience, with preference for people with blended learning experience.
• Superior writing and editing skills.
• Advanced understanding of adult learning principles.
• Experience working with a virtual team, using webinar and virtual meeting software, like WebEx, and using webcam technology.
• Self-directed with minimal oversight by supervisor
• Demonstrated experience building an online learning community, and preferably facilitating an online learning environment.
• Master’s degree with coursework in instructional design and/or e-learning preferred.
• Background in community development, poverty alleviation or national service also preferred.
• Experience developing online courses for higher ed is also desirable.

Job Details:
Salary commensurate with experience.
This job could be full or part-time, depending on the candidate.
