Biography
Anastasia Kharchenko is a graphic designer based in New York City. She recently graduated with a BFA in Communication Design from Parsons School of Design. Her enthusiasm for experimentation with ideas and media, as well as creating meaningful experiences is important in her work. Independent of the medium, her projects are infused with visual and conceptual movement that helps her communicate wide range of ideas effectively and with a sense of play.
Process
The project was created by exploring the similarities between two practices: acting and design. Finding common traits in actor’s/designer’s creative processes, readings by theater and design practitioners have been collected and organized according to the stage of the process. Acting exercises were turned into designer’s prompts, enhancing the physical application of an idea. The process allowed for an author to be a designer to be an actor to be an author.
Advice
Learn a lot and create even more! Turn every experience into a learning opportunity that will benefit you in the future. Engage with thinking behind other projects, approach designers, and find what interests you outside of design. Constantly learn and apply that knowledge to your work!
