The Art Program of Butler University, Jordan College of Fine Arts invites applications and nominations for the following faculty position:

POSITION: Assistant Professor of Art, Tenure Track

DUTIES: Responsibilities commence at the beginning of the 2013-14 academic year. The successful candidate will teach in the art program and offer art courses in the core curriculum. The ideal candidate will have a multidisciplinary background in design and fine art and will teach hybrid courses such as Function, Time and Motion, Interactive and Space. The ideal candidate will have a background and strong foundation in conceptual and/or process based art. It is expected that she/he will continue a program of professional engagement, will also advise and mentor undergraduates and provide the appropriate professional service.

QUALIFICATIONS: The art program seeks an exceptional educator and artist with evidence of quality teaching at the university level, with a terminal degree; MFA or PhD, required. Interest in and ability to utilize sustainable or alternative materials and new technologies is strongly desired. Exhibition or publication history at the professional level and the understanding of contemporary issues in art and design is essential. The art program is searching for a colleague who is enthusiastic, dedicated, student-centered and a team player. E-learning experience and/or administrative skills are a plus. Individuals with the ability to contribute in meaningful ways to the university’s continuing commitment to cultural diversity, pluralism and individual differences are encouraged to apply. SALARY: Competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications.
