Sneak an hour of creative writing into your school or work day, and re-engage with the art that constantly surrounds you on campus.
“Art/Write” workshops are free, one-hour workshops that lead participants in creating new writing prompted by art in galleries and sites on The New School campus. The workshops use literature as a lens into artworks, and artworks as a lens back into writing. The goal of these power hours is to connect (or reconnect) participants to the art that surrounds them, and to their own unique writing voice.

From “A Working Model of The World:” (Left) Brook Andrew, “Tombs of Thought: Water” / (Right) Corinne May Botz, “The Nutshell Studies of Unexplained Death Series.”

Sign up here for upcoming Art/Write workshops. Free with registration to members of The New School Community (staff, faculty and recent alums or alumni card holders). Space is limited. Please arrive on time with a notebook/paper and pen.

Leslie Fierro is a writer and Amherst Writers and Artists Affiliate, leads “Cast Off!” writing workshops in Brooklyn, NY, holds an MFA in Creative Writing from The New School, and is a Program Administrator in the School of Art, Media and Technology at Parsons.
