ART + MUSIC + AERIAL FEATS + FIRE BREATHERS = NEW BROOKLYN HAPPENING

Brooklyn, NY – It looks like Basquiat when he was still SAMO and Pollock’s Number 8. It feels like paint and guitar strings under fingertips, the heat of a lit match and hands gliding over newly laid bricks. It sounds like “Dr. Robert,” “Judy is a Punk,” and “Good Times.” It’s OXHEART, an art and music collective, hosting their first event: “Letter Red” at 8pm, Friday and Saturday, June 15th and 16th, 2012. At the 12,000 square foot Gowanus Ballroom (55 Ninth Street) in Brooklyn, the event will feature work from emerging and established artists, fire breathers, local musicians, aerial performers and much more. Beverages will be available. Tickets are $15 cash at the door or $10 with RSVP online at oxheart.net.

The event is not just for showing, but for interacting. Votes will be taken throughout the evening for the OXHEART People’s Choice Awards, where first, second and third place artists, selected by attendees, will win a cash prize. In addition, eventgoers can be a part of OXHEART’s “Letter Red” evening by wearing red.

“OXHEART is a sexy word,” says collective founder Bryn Larson. “‘Ox’ equals strength, in my mind, ‘heart’ equals our passion and love for gathering gifted talents together to showcase their work.”

OXHEART is comprised of creative artists of all kinds, including but not limited to musicians, photographers, writers, designers, and visual artists. The collective’s sole philosophy is focused on all artists, providing them with an exciting opportunity to connect and gain exposure to new audiences. Passionate about showcasing the plentiful talent found in the New York area, OXHEART is all about the people who create art, in whatever form it takes.
