Joseph Saavedra has been selected to speak at the 3rd annual Design Indaba conference, which welcomes top multi-disciplinary graduates from around the world to present their work in a Pecha Kucha format. As well as giving a platform to the students, the presentation is also a showcase of the exciting and innovate. held this year in Capetown. This year’s conference runs from February 23-25 in Capetown, and Joseph will be presenting his thesis project, Citizen Sensor. This is the second year in a row that Parsons graduates have been invited to speak (last year, Mike Edwards presented his design research).

The basic idea behind Citizen Sensor is a small sensor pack is fitted neatly on your body, monitoring air quality, UV levels, noise pollution, and other environmental factors. This was Joseph’s thesis project for MFA Design & Technology, and it also won the prestigious Cologne International Design Prize.
