Stein’s book, Interrupting Chicken, which he wrote and illustrated, has received a 2011 Caldecott Honor from the Association for Library Service to Children.

The book is about a little red chicken and his father trying to get through bedtime stories together. But, whether the tale is Hansel and Gretel or Little Red Riding Hood, she jumps into the story to save its hapless characters from doing dangerous or silly things.
