7:00-8:30PM Presentation

A dozen years ago, Paula Scher began painting colorful, complicated maps of the world, its continents, countries, islands, oceans, cities, streets and neighborhoods. Obsessive, opinionated and more than a little personal, the twisted topographies of words and type were a reaction against information anxiety and provided an outlet for Paula’s neuroses, compulsions, frustrations, humor and angst. Along the way, something interesting happened: The more elaborate the maps grew, the more pure and simple Paula’s graphic design became. Join Paula for an expedition down the tangled byways of a dual life of art and design.

The lecture coincides with the release of Paula’s new book, MAPS, published by Princeton Architectural Press. Scher will be signing copies of the book available for purchase online and at the event.
