AFT/CTI INTERNATIONAL COLOR COORDINATION POSTER CONTEST RULES – 2014 (U.S.)

All Japan Fashion Teachers (AFT)/The Color Test Institute (CTI) is a non-profit association of schools and individuals in Japan who work with color coordination in various fields such as fashion, graphics, textiles and interior design. AFT/CTI as an official organization authorized by the Cabinet Office of Japan, has developed and administers a Test of Color Coordination. AFT/CTI has a strong commitment to developing projects that lead to greater international understanding, respect and professional interaction. As one of these projects, AFT/CTI is pleased to sponsor this International Poster Contest

THE PRIZES:

Grand Prize $1600, First Prize $1000, Second Prize $475, Third Prize $300, Fourth Prize $200 and Fifth Prize $100.

DESIGN BRIEF:

This contest asks the contestant to design a poster that will be used by AFT/CTI as a component in the publicity campaign for its Test of Color Coordination. The task of this assignment is: Reread your favorite fairy tale. Represent your favorite part of the story through the use of colors and shapes. The finished product can be either completely computer generated or completely hand rendered or a combination of both. Do not use any recognizable images. The finished piece should be two-dimensional. Winning entries will be chosen on the basis of the use of color. Think abstractly and use the power of color to illustrate your concept.

Judging Criteria: Winners will be chosen by panels of Japanese and US judges

1) Creative solution to the design problem

2) Use of color to solve the problem.

DEADLINE: Entries must be submitted by November 13, 2013. Winners will be announced in March, 2014

GUIDELINES

Submission Guidelines:

1) Each entry must be submitted on one page of 11” x 14” paper

2) Do not add any text or type and do not mount your entry

3) Each entry must be in full color

4) Submit either:

a. Two COLOR copies of your original

b. One original plus one color copy.

Entry form guidelines:

a) Tape an official entry form over the front top left of the original and the copy of your entry (Make sure the tape is easy to remove)

b) Print your name and school on the back of your original and on the back of the copy of your original.

c) Be sure to sign both signature statements on the entry form.

d) Entries may not be submitted to other contests.

e) Each contestant can submit only one entry.

f) All entries will be kept by AFT/CTI and will not be returned. Entries may be used for non-profit activities such as exhibition

AFT/CTI 2014 INTERNATIONAL CONTESTS CALENDAR (U.S.)

1. All AFT/CTI forms will be delivered to schools before August 15, 2013.

2. Students must submit entries by Wednesday, November 13, 2013.

3. I will collect all entries by Monday, November 18, 2013.

4. Judging will take place during the week of Dec. 2 through Dec. 6, 2013.

5. All judged entries will be shipped to Japan by Wednesday, December 18, 2013.

6. Winners will be announced in March 2014.
