Design Assistant

7 A.M. Enfant studio is seeking a highly motivated, positive, resourceful and pro-active individual with great style and sophisticated design sensibilities. Based in the motivating and vibrant New York City we are an expanding, international, high-end children’s wear and baby accessory company with mass distribution in department and specialty stores. Our company is well established and respected in the Industry for offering great innovative products and designs.

Qualities/Skills:
• Hands-on, articulate, inquisitive, creative, and obsessed with doing great work
• Able to design around concepts and to design flat sketches
• Excellent hand Illustration skills are a definite plus
• Excellent color sense, keen eye and great attention to detail
• Understanding of garment construction, specs and fit
• Understanding of the baby/children market and parent customers
• Sophisticated taste with focus on creating quality products
• Passion every day to design compelling, cutting edge product
• Sketching of sample garments
• Preparing technical packages for final art, starting & completing final CAD presentations for sales
• Eager to learn and full of ideas
• Ability to work independently, to follow directions and to work as part of a team in a fast paced environment
• Strong time management skills with the ability to multitask and meet deadlines
• Excellent organizational, and presentation skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Self-motivated and diligent worker who takes pride of her/his work
• Must possess ability to handle several tasks at once
• Proactively seek out opportunities to maximize the business
• Must be hard worker with a strong work ethic

Requirements:
• Must be a college graduate with 2 years experience minimum
• Experience in Children’s wear a plus
• Proficient with CAD fashion software, Adobe Creative Suite, illustrator, Photoshop, Microsoft office including PowerPoint on a Mac platform.
• Must be efficient with tech packs, fittings, comments and corrections.

Highly organized, the candidate will collaborate with designer, create boards, cads, create new tech packs for sampling of new line, follow through factories in sampling process, prepare final tech pack for production and follow thru the complete process from fitting to the final approval
Shop print studios and fabric mills to define newest fabric and print direction for season, and select and approve fabric, yarn qualities, and findings for products.
Take part in the development and selection of artwork, prepares the flat sketch design for new products, and create design sketches for enhancements to existing products.
Develop and make seasonal merchandise presentations of proposed designs, including boards and other visuals.

Salary: Depends on experience
