Everybody likes a good story. So what’s better than a good story? Many good stories! Join Base for its first ever solo speaking engagement on the US soil. Spend an evening with Base founding partners Dimitri Jeurissen and Thierry Brunfaut for the tales behind why the studio consciously chose early on to “specialize in not specializing”. In a fireside chat environment that would do FDR proud, hear about the challenges of not specializing in a given field, opening multiple offices around the world, and what it takes to transform a five-person, familial partnership into a professional company.

Twitter: Twitter.com/Base_DesignThierry Brunfaut (Founding Partner, Head of Creation) comes from a family of architects and brings to Base a creativity grounded in logic. Thierry oversees all graphic and typographic issues within Base’s global organization. Following a two-year stint as a graphic designer in Spain, Thierry co-founded Base in 1993. To projects ranging from visual identities to ad campaigns to print, Thierry imparts a philosophy of graphic and conceptual simplicity that emphasizes concise communication. He is a regular speaker at La Cambre’s architecture and graphic arts departments, and has presented at the Icograda World Design Conference, Ullens Center for Contemporary Arts (UCCA) in Beijing, and other design and brand conferences around the world.

Dimitri Jeurissen (Founding Partner, Head of Brand and Business Development) develops new ventures for Base. After co-founding Base in 1993, Dimitri started as a graphic designer but then quickly moved on to art direction and took Base’s global management from 2006 until 2011. Since 2011, Dimitri’s central role embraces something he has always done intuitively: explore new territories, develop raw ideas, encourage initiative and trigger self-initiated Base projects, to push the Base Brand and all studios forward.
