Photo Requests from Solitary is thrilled to have an exhibition at the Brooklyn Public Library (Central Branch) from April 20-July 1, 2019. More information here.

Please join us for a walk-through of the exhibition led by Jean Casella, PRFS co-organizer and Johnny Perez, a survivor of solitary confinement and the Director of the U.S. Prisons Program at the National Religious Campaign Against Torture. The tour begins in the Grand Lobby at Brooklyn Public Library, Central, on April 23rd at 6:30pm. The opening reception for Photo Requests from Solitary follows the April 23rd screening event of Raised in the System hosted by Michael K. Williams.  Registration is required for the screening event, not for the walk-through and reception.

Photo Requests from Solitary (PRFS) is a participatory project that invites men and women held in long-term solitary confinement in U.S. prisons to request a photograph of anything at all, real or imagined, and then finds a volunteer to make the image. The astonishing range of requests, taken together, provide an archive of the hopes, memories, and interests of people who live in extreme isolation.

Many people from Parsons have been involved in the project and we always hope others will be interested to fulfill requests and support efforts to end solitary confinement.
