Two web/interactive internships at global brand management firm

Sean M. Simpson, MFA Photo Alum and Senior Web Developer at STC Associates, a global brand management firm, is looking for two interns to join their web/interactive department.

These positions are ideally for students nearing graduation interested in web, UI, app development, building unconventional web products, and even some interactive installation. These internships have a small amount of compensation as they are intending to be a bridge for the student out of college into a professional career. Please see the full descriptions below.

Company Background
Founded in 1992, STC Associates is a global brand management consultancy representing clients in the telecom, technology, spirits and luxury goods sector. The company has built a reputation for working with clients to develop fast-paced focused, results-based strategy and marketing initiatives that help achieve increased market visibility and business growth in today’s competitive business environment. STC has offices in New York, London, Singapore, Paris and Mumbai.

Interactive Internship – UI
The User Interface Interactive Intern will work under the direction of the Senior Web Developer and will be directly involved in interactive initiatives in a brand management/creative agency as they arise. This individual should possess a can-do attitude and be filled with a passion for learning, understanding, and tackling new technologies. If you think Flash is tired and want to kick it with jQuery, HTML5, CSS3, this internship is for you. We want to develop your potential into innovative style, elevating websites into an art form. Internship has potential to lead to working relationship.
Summary of Responsibilities:
-Work closely with Designers to develop intuitive and successful interactive products
-Collaborate with interactive department to maintain clean and dynamic code.
-Design and implement cutting edge Web UI
-Cross-browser QA
Summary of Skills:
-Basic Photoshop and Illustrator knowledge
-HTML5, CSS3, AJAX, Javascript frameworks: jQuery, MooTools, Script.aculo.us
-Prior knowledge or Interest learning CANVAS, Django, RoR, WordPress hacking, Google Maps API, Python, Video, Animation, App Development, Augmented Reality, MAX/MSP/Jitter, cv.jit, Processing, Arduino
Internship Requirements:
The intern will work at least 15 hours per week during the current quarter/semester, for a minimum of 150 hours. Those hours may be worked in any combination at the discretion of the intern and the supervisor. At the end of the internship, the intern will fill out a written evaluation of the program, and the intern’s supervisor will fill out a written evaluation of the intern’s abilities and progress. The supervisor can be used as a reference for future job search. Payment will be the items produced that the intern can put into their portfolio, as well as real-world work experience. Interns will also receive a stipend agreed upon based on time and skills.

Interactive Internship – Server Side
The Server-Side Interactive Intern will work under the direction of the Senior Web Developer and will be directly involved in interactive initiatives in a brand management/creative agency as they arise.  This individual should possess a can-do attitude and be filled with a passion for learning, understanding, and tackling new technologies.   If you think shards are the secret sauce of life, and you want to build exciting dynamic applications, this internship is for you.  We are looking for someone using MYSQL, ASP, PHP and Python in creative ways. Internship has potential to lead to working relationship.
Summary of Responsibilities:
-Work closely with Designers to develop intuitive and successful interactive products
-Collaborate with interactive department to maintain clean and dynamic code.
-Design and implement dynamic and scalable web structures.
-Cross-browser QA
Summary of Skills:
-Server-Side: MYSQL, ASP, .NET, PHP, Python, MDB (legacy coding)
-Client-Side: HTML5, CSS3, AJAX, Javascript frameworks
-Prior knowledge or Interest learning app development: iPhone and Android, Interactive programming: AR, C++,  Max/MSP/Jitter, Arduino, Processing
