Opportunity to be involved with project led by the brilliant Moscow designer/director Dmitry Krymov
ATTENTION ARTISTS OF ALL KINDS:
Performers from COPA and Parsons are being sought for a project led by the brilliant Moscow designer/director Dmitry Krymov. This project will convene for two intensive weeks each semester for the next two years. In year three, a full production will be mounted, intended for performance in New York and international touring. Instrumentalists, singers, and composers; painters, sculptors, and installation makers; dancers and video-makers are all being sought. No acting ability is required, but an eagerness to improvise and perform onstage is a necessity for all.
Dmitry Krymov is acknowledged as one of most innovative theatre-makers in the world; perhaps the most innovative, certainly one of the five best on anyone’s list. His company is internationally renowned; they are a regular presence at festivals around the world. Dima (as he is known) makes works that are both profound and whimsical, provocative but delightful, filled with shocks and surprises of joyous and brilliant theatricality. They are charged with music, movement, DIY design, and ensemble energy. These are not plays, although sometimes there is some kind of script as an initial source; these are performance events. He’s a delightful man to work with and relies heavily on the talents and improvisations of his performers. Rehearsals can be rigorous but are a total delight to participate in.
