applications and nominations for the position of Assistant Professor of Graphic Design.

Within this setting, College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences/ Betty Foy Sanders Department of Art offers these undergraduate degree programs: B.F.A. 2D or 3D/4D Studio, B.F.A. Graphic Design, B.A. Studio Arts, and B.A. Art History, and B.S. Graphic Communications Management with course offerings in Animation, Art History, Ceramics, Drawing, Graphic Design, Jewelry/Metals, New Media, Painting, Printmaking, Paper and Book Arts, Photography, and Sculpture. The Department also offers the M.F.A.

degree with focus in 2D Studio, 3D Studio, or Graphic Design. Seventeen full-time faculty members teach

400+ undergraduate majors and 30 graduate students. The Department is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD). Three galleries and a sculpture garden are housed in a newly constructed, state-of-the-art gallery and Black Box Theatre facility, the Center for Art & Theatre. Permanent collections include the Southern Folk Art Research Center and the Georgia Artists Collection. The visual arts are experienced by all students on campus and are highly respected as an essential facet of the University’s liberal arts mission. This position will further the department’s graphic design curriculum by creating new learning opportunities for our students in discipline specialty course offerings at the undergraduate and graduate level.

Position Description. Reporting to the Department Chair, the Assistant Professor of Art with an emphasis in Graphic Design requires a teaching load of 9 credit hours per semester, being active in creative/ research/ scholarly activities, and providing service to the university and community that are consistent with departmental expectations. The position is an academic, tenure-track appointment, and the salary

is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Required Qualifications:

• Terminal degree in graphic design, or a closely related field, from an accredited institution by August 1, 2017
• Thorough knowledge of discipline relevant digital techniques, methods, UI, UX, interactivity,

and web design

• Demonstrated excellence in graphic design
• Ability to teach across the graphic design curriculum
• Proficiency with Macintosh platform and current versions of Adobe Creative Suite
• Must have strong written and oral communication skills
• Must be authorized to work in the United States for the duration of employment without assistance from the institution

Preferred Qualifications:

• Demonstrated knowledge in current issues and trends in Graphic Design
• Recent MFA GD Graduates and anticipated May 2017 MFA GD Graduates are encouraged to apply
• Knowledge of mobile applications, new media, motion graphics and animation
• Evidence of creative work and/or scholarship creative through portfolio or publications

Screening of applications begins September 30, 2016, and continues until the position is filled. The preferred position starting date is August 1, 2017.
