SUBMEDIA presents Sept 29, 6pm, 10th Floor Lab, 2w13

Joshua Spodek co-founded Submedia, a new media company that shows short motion-pictures to subway riders moving between stations. He invented the medium and founded the company while in school, and has since gone on to create art with the medium, showing in galleries, museums, and in Bryant Park.

He will present the medium for you to explore and play with, how it was developed, how it works, and describe upcoming projects with potential student involvement (perhaps from you!). His next project is to build a much larger display with much larger viewership within the MTA, with needs including motion graphics, physical computing, ubiquitous computing, photography, video, fine art, and architectural design. He will also talk about the entrepreneurial process of taking an idea from concept to funding and profitability.
