Palestine Interrupted

Adam Abel is a New York based artist working with photography, video and film. His work has been exhibited throughout New York and internationally, including shows at Galapagos Art Space, Rush Arts Gallery, 3rd Ward, Photoville, Broadway Gallery, Parsons, The New School for Design and the Sydney College of the Arts.

In 2011, Abel began traveling to Palestine for his latest works. PALESTINE INTERRUPTED, is a nine-channel video installation that uses narratives from Palestine to disrupt narratives about Palestine. QALQILYA is a feature documentary film currently in production that tells the story about a group of Palestinian youth who are skating, performing beatbox, hip hop and parkour in Qalqilya – a town in the West Bank that is surrounded by Israel’s Wall.

Abel taught as an adjunct instructor at Lehman College (CUNY) from 2007-2010. He completed an MFA in Photography and Related Media at Parsons, The New School For Design and received his B.A. in Studio Art from Wesleyan University.
