Assist art teacher at progressive elementary school in Carroll Gardens section of Brooklyn. Brooklyn New School is a progressive public elementary school with an art-focused curriculum that stresses inquiry and play-based learning. The arts are integrated into all areas of study.Art studies are integrated into all aspects of curriculum, from science and sustainability to social studies. Assistant duties include preparation for classes, teaching children in grades K-5 and installing student work for exhibitions.Assistants should be willing to work a minimum of one half school day per week (8:20-11:30 or 12:00-3:20). Familiarity with working with children and an interest in public education are essential.
