On October 29, Parsons Alumni and Faculty will be signing copies of their books recently published by RITA, an independent publishing house focusing on art and photography books that advance the dialogue of the book form.

RITA was launched by Parsons alumni Nick Bridges and Casey Dorobek (both BFA Photography 2014).  Bridges and Dorobek, along with fellow alumnus Anthony Tafuro (BFA Photography 2012) and Parsons Faculty Colin Stearns, welcome the greater Parsons community to attend the launch:

Nick Bridges, Hair of the Dog

Nick BridgesHair of the Dog confronts the problem of curing excess with more excess, as Bridges takes the viewer through what feels like one long, confused night.

Casey Dorobok, Vindor

Casey Dorobok, Vindor

Casey Dorobek’s Vindor looks at the ways in which contemporary architecture and visual culture have progressed, as Dorobek moves through massive urban development projects, architectural renderings for future departments of art institutions, and burgeoning consumer driven streets.

Colin Stearns, Meridian

Colin Stearns, Meridian

Colin StearnsMeridian was made over the course of three years split between Paris, Normandy, and New York City. Stearns’ photo-novel reflects on isolation and loss through the scientific phenomenon of the optic nerve after-image. Photographs fade in and out, reappearing throughout the book as distant augmented memories.

Anthony Tafuro, Perfect Ending

Anthony Tafuro, Perfect Ending

Anthony Tafuro’s Perfect Ending is a collection of photographs taken between 2009 and 2014, many of which satirize the phenomenon and hysteria of the 2012 apocalypse that was inspired by the Mayan calendar. Beyond the catastrophic idea of an apocalypse, Tafuro points to many poignant and problematic aspects of a culture driven by sex, power, and violence.
