The Aronson Gallery is pleased to present “Governing Bodies”, a collaborative group show that tests the mechanisms of democracy.

This exhibition examines democracy as it shaped two groups and their artistic practices over the course of a five month collaboration. Inspired by the United States’ 2016 national election, “Governing Bodies” began as a process to enhance community and to dissect democratic decision making. These artists participated in weekly meetings and engaged a variety of voting processes, highlighting the strengths and weaknesses in collective consensus.

“Governing Bodies” features work from Zeshan Ahmed, Maryanne Braine, Siho Chang, Amanda Field, Shannon Finnell, Isadora Frost, Hannah Harley, María del Mar Hernández Gil de Lamadrid, Huang Guaier + Wang Runzhong, Mónika Izing, Jenna Petrone, Ariana Sarwari, and Richard Wade with curation lead by Kayla Seifert.

The exhibition runs from December 2nd – December 18th, 2017

The closing reception for “Governing Bodies” is Thursday, December 14th from 6-9 PM

Gallery hours: 1:00 pm – 6:00 pm daily
