Maria Thereza Alvez

Maria Thereza Alvez, recipient of the Vera List Center Prize for Art and Politics 2016-18, explores notions of colonialism, commerce, ecology, and migration by following the movement of seeds distributed by cargo ships carrying people and goods around the globe. Her work has been featured at MUAC in Mexico City; CCAC in Sevilla; Documenta 13; the Sharjah Biennale, with public projects in Marseilles, Bristol and numerous other cities. Her exhibition, Maria Thereza Alves, Seeds of Change: New York—A Botany of Colonization, is on view November 3- 27, 2017 in the’ Arnold and Sheila Aronson Galleries at Parsons.
