Sammy Cucher

Part-time Assistant Professor

Sammy Cucher has been a faculty member at Parsons since 1998. He is one half of the artistics team of Aziz + Cucher. They have exhibited their photography, sculpture, animation and video installations in museums and festivals world-wide, including the Venice Biennale, The Biennale de Lyon, the New Museum of Contemporary Art in New York, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, the List Visual Art Center at MIT, the National Gallery of Berlin, the National Gallery of Australia, and the Fondation Cartier in Paris. Their work has been published in the New Yorker, New York Times, Art in America, ArtForum, ArtNews, FlashArt, October, Cabinet and Parkett. Cucher received his MFA from the San Francisco Art Institute in 1992, and is the recipient of awards from the National Endowment for the Arts, the Pollock-Krasner Foundation, and the New York Foundation for the Arts. In 2012, Aziz+Cucher had a solo exhibition at the Indianapolis Museum of Art ,which was accompanied by a catalog published by Hatje Cantz, Germany. More recently their work has been included in group exhibitions organized by the Cooper Union, No Longer Empty, and the New Museum of Contemporary Art, all in New York, as well as a solo show of new work at Gazelli Art House, London
