Artist Statement

I’m looking for a sensation – a kind of eeriness that constantly disables my sense of existence and my ability to articulate. It hovers between fear and desire, repulsion and seduction. It’s seemingly familiar, intimate and inviting, but something always slips out of its normality. It involves us by phenomenal sensation instead of cognitive narration.

Using painting as the main medium and installation as extension of the imagery, I build up my own mythological narrative, a mysterious fictional landscape as a double of our reality, to rethink our subjectivity and belief at this contemporary moment. Combining cartoonish figuration and abstraction, I make narrative based paintings and uses artist books, sculpture, video and sound to set up installations for my painting practice.
