Sunday, November 22 | 12:30 – 3:30pm

Designers see and use type in different ways, from those who use formal principles to those with a more free form approach (Vignelli to Carson). Discuss type as related to graphic design, fashion editorial, advertising, web, and identity. Choose an image and a font to express a style of design. There will be two rounds of critique and design.

AAS GD Type Meet Up with Lauren
Thursday, December 3 | 12:30 – 3:30pm

Bring an example of found type to share and discuss. This could include something historic, hand drawn, photographed on a walk. Discuss aesthetics. Is there a universal standard in design? Look at the work of designers with different points of view, like Vignelli versus Scher, Sagmeister versus Fili, etc. Choose two designers and typeset or hand draw their names in styles that reflect their work. Discuss & critique.
