3-D COMPUTING: INTRO TO ANIMATION & MODELING – 21414 –ARTS 209
8:00am-11:15am Wednesdays, Berrie Center Room 142
Studio Class 4.000 Credits

Students will become proficient in Cinema 4-D and will experiment with developing 3-D objects, environments, and animations. Students will be given an overview of modeling techniques including (but not limited to) texturing, lighting, and rendering 3-D models and scenes. We will use these processes to explore art-making, and philosophies of 2-D and 3-D visualization.

JOB SUMMARY:
A detailed syllabus is provided for the course including assignments, tutorials, samples of other artists work and guidelines for critique and grading. Students are using Cinema 4D, very similar to Maya. Candidate must be familiar enough with the software in order to troubleshoot basic assignments. Will be able to loan software for the duration of the teaching assignment. Classes are held in an 18-seat Quad Core Mac Pro lab.

DUTIES:
The candidate will offer instruction for assignments, grade weekly assignments, lead class critiques of larger assignments, and provide inspiration and support based on candidate’s own experiences and skills.

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS:
PORTFOLIO: DVD portfolio of recent animation work
EDUCATION: BFA or BA in Digital Art/ Animation (MFA preferred)
EXPERIENCE: Experience with 3D Animation. Experience with Cinema 4D a plus.

ADDITIONAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
The position requires the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with students and
faculty, and maintain a positive and supportive workplace environment. Up to date knowledge of art
issues in animation is important and some professional experience is preferred. Candidate must have an
interest in and on going experience in animation as an art form.
