Parsons MFA Fine Arts Alumna Jessica Posner will present two brand new works this summer as a part of Seen and Heard: An Active Commemoration of Women’s Suffrage at the Everson Museum of Art in Syracuse, NY. The first new work is the monumentally-scaled Venus—a 5.5ft x 2ft x 3ft butter and beeswax version of the tiny, paleolithic, goddess better known as the Woman of Willendorf. She shares a gallery with an amazing Barbara Kruger (pictured below!)

The exhibition also marks the release of Jessica’s BUTTER BODY POLITIC performance film – the culmination of four years of performance and research into butter as a metaphor for the body politic. The 40 minute film features the artist, David Geer, Sayeh Echo, and a herd of pregnant cows; shot by Director of Photography Stefanie Noble; with sound and additional camera by Joanna Spitzner. The project was made possible through the support of many folks and entities, including: CNY Arts, New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA), and Onondaga County.

BUTTER BODY POLITIC will be screening continuously in the galleries of the Everson Museum during Seen and Heard, with an evening screening taking place at ArtRage Gallery in Syracuse, NY this Fall.
